Shining Bright!
Dr. Smith's Physical Science class got a first hand look at the sun. They were able to see large prominences on the sun's surface using Delta's hydrogen-alpha telescope. Below are photos from the class.

Supermen?

Dr. Smith vainly attempts to pull a Magdeburg sphere apart in front of his class. Students also tried but with no success. A Magdeburg sphere (Magdeburg, Germany) is a device created by German scientist Otto von Guericke (1602-1686). His demonstration of a much larger sphere proved the extreme pressure exerted by our atmosphere. In his demonstration, von Guerike attached each end of the sphere to two teams of horses. Even they could not pull the large sphere apart.
