Delta Educator Outreach

At Delta, we know the value of hands-on, minds-on teaching. This concept probably applies to science more so than any other topic. Our science department is composed of a diverse teaching staff well qualified in their respected fields. We encourage you as educators to contact us and allow us the privilege to come to your class to give demonstrations.
The topics can be wide ranging from various areas of earth science to biology. Professor Green specializes in geology, Professor Harrell in biology, Professor Smith in physics and physical science, and Professor Wheeler in meteorology and astronomy. In most cases several of the instructors will come out as a supporting cast for the presenter.
As Delta continues to evolve and improve, we as instructors will do the same. New and exciting student demonstrations are on the horizon for the spring and upcoming school year. For teachers, Delta will be initializing a pollution study program along the Ouachita and other area waterways.
Get
involved! Your ideas are a necessity for the success of the program.
A component of Delta's mission is to serve the educational community. Tell
us what you would like to see or do.
Form a partnership with Delta. Some area schools are already in the formative stages of forming partnerships with our science department for after school science classes and demonstrations. Students will participate in hands-on science activities designed around your needs.
Some of our long-term projects
include an area wide astronomy program. Should this
grant
be funded, area schools will be invited to participate in a year long program in
which schools will participate in monthly viewings. At the end of the
school year, area schools will enter an astronomy competition against each
other. In addition, your school will be invited to join Delta at area star
parties such as the Kitsatchie Star Party in Natchitoches or the Mid-South Star
Party in Mississippi.
Teachers, would you like a teacher workshop? If so, you've come to the right place again! Just tell us the topic.
