Blanket Under the Stars

The Louisiana Delta Community College Science Club participated in another successful astronomy viewing, this time in the dark away from city lights.  The viewing took place south of West Monroe off of Highway 34.  Participants brought their blankets and bon fire equipment such as hot dogs and marshmallows.

Over 60 individuals attended the event which included representatives from Carroll High School, Louisiana Tech, Richwood High School, and Delta.  Objects viewed included the Andromeda Galaxy, the Ring Nebula, Mars, Uranus, Neptune, the Dumbbell Nebula, the Whirlpool Galaxy, and other objects.

The next event will be on November 8, 2003 with the year's second total lunar eclipse.  It will likely be held once again at Books-A-Million.
